AIM No. 1
Develop a caring child centred curriculum that is broad, balanced and differentiated to meet and develop the needs of all children.
Objectives
To develop and implement clear policies for each National Curriculum subject and other curriculum areas including assessment within each subject
To draw up schemes of work for each curriculum area.
Ensure that each subject is allocated appropriate time on the timetable
Ensure that the delivery of the curriculum is appropriately planned for different levels of ability to ensure it meets each child’s needs.
To provide opportunities for children to be involved in extra-curricular activities and set homework in line with our school policy.
AIM No. 2
Ensure progression and coverage of all National Curriculum core and foundation subjects.
Objectives
To provide a co-ordinated and developmental approach to curriculum delivery throughout the school.
To ensure that the National Curriculum is carefully planned into our themes and that a natural progression throughout the school takes place.
Ensure our planning and recording mechanisms meet the requirements of the National Curriculum.
AIM No. 3
Develop an understanding of all regarding, race, gender, ability and disability
Objectives
To provide all children with access to the whole curriculum.
To plan the curriculum to make it meet the needs of children of all levels of ability.
Regularly review the delivered curriculum to identify ways in which it can be improved
The planned learning experience provided will seek to extend pupils ability at an appropriate level.
To ensure that boys and girls have the same access to all aspects of school life.
The school should respect and value each child’s own belief, culture and language.
To make children aware of the similarities and variations of religious, cultures, and customs within our society.
To ensure that our resources within school reflect that we live today in a multi-cultural society.
AIM No. 4
Develop the child’s self image and esteem.
Objectives
To provide a consistent experience in terms of expectations by all staff of the school.
To provide a clear framework regarding acceptable behaviour.
To value success in which ever area it is achieved.
Provide opportunities for all pupils to experience the carrying out of responsibility.
Seek opportunities to provide justifiable praise for every individual.
Classroom management centres upon rewards and praise.
AIM No. 5
Develop children as independent learners.
Objectives
Provide opportunities for each child to make meaningful decisions and choices – PSHE and school council action group.
Provide experiences where children work as members of a team and help them to develop co-operative skills.
Provide a classroom environment that allows children to service their own needs in terms of materials and sources of information including ICT and NGFL.
Provide opportunities for children to undertake their own investigations and problem solving tasks.
Provide opportunities for children to undertake ongoing projects and tasks.
AIM No. 6
Develop a caring attitude towards each other by behaving in a positive and responsible manner.
Objectives
Adopt a positive approach towards developing good behaviour.
Make children, parents and staff aware of expected standards of behaviour.
Work with the governors, LEA, teachers and children to develop and maintain the internal and external environments.
Provide high quality, interactive displays related to current learning activities.
Respond sympathetically to reports of problems by pupils or parents.
Have a known system of sanctions when behaviour falls below the accepted standard.
AIM No. 7
Develop a community spirit between the child, parents, school and the wider community.
Objectives
Keep parents regularly informed of their child’s progress e.g. Link books, IEP’s, interviews and reports.
Provide parents with information about the curriculum we are delivering to their child.
Actively involve parents in the life of the school.
To ensure that the teachers, pupils, parents and governors have a common vision of the direction the school is moving.
Continue to encourage and develop our Parents, Teachers and Friends Association.
Encourage and develop the use of the local community and surrounding area by involving visitors within school and taking the children into the local area.
AIM No. 8
Develop from infant school the attitudes, values, skills and knowledge so that transfer to Secondary School.
To ensure the progression of attitudes, values, skills and knowledge throughout the school.
To develop liaison practices with our Secondary feeder schools.
AIM No. 9
Provide experiences that will develop our pupils’ spiritual and moral understanding.
Objectives
That Religious Education is presented in the light of the social and cultural background of the pupils.
That Religious Education relates to the beliefs and practices in the home.
That Religious Education is presented with each religion treated as a living faith which has an historical foundation.
The Religious Education is presented within the values, attitudes, relationships and ethos of the school.
That Religious Education is presented accurately in terms of knowledge and sensitivity in terms of belief and values.
To deliver structured collective acts of workshop or assemblies which can act as an introduction to Religious Education topics, which can then be developed during the week in Religious Education lessons.
To provide messages during assemblies and lessons which help children to develop spiritually and morally.
To understand and develop attitudes to the rights and wrongs of certain issues.
AIM No. 10
For all staff to feel happy to come to school to work with children and develop them to their full potential.
Objectives
There is a clear commitment from the Headteacher and governors of the school to train and develop all staff and governors. This will take into consideration the priorities for change within the School Development Plan and will also consider the development of personal needs.
To continue to develop the Investor In People Standard at school.
To provide all staff with a continuous professional development profile which is part of our performance management policy.
That all staff work towards the philosophy and vision statement of Whitehill Primary School as agents for school improvement.
That staff and governors continue to use self-evaluation as a tool for school improvement.
